Bandung, the beautiful city of flowers is also known as the Paris of Java. It is situated at an altitude of 768 meters above sea level and is surrounded by volcanic mountains. There are quite a few must-see places in Bandung and tourists can stay at one of the many Bandung hotels and explore these places.http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2620/5761599524_ab23829263.jpg
1. Tangkuban Perahu: Just 25 km away from Bandung is the most beautiful volcano Tangkuban Perahu meaning the upturning of a boat. The place has many things to explore. One can trek down through the craters, and in one of the crater called Domas crater there are many hot geysers. Legend says that Sangkuriang once built a huge boat in a night as task given to him by Dayang Sumbi. Seeing Sangkuriang completing his task before time, Dayang Sumbi spread her red silk cloth to east of the city giving an illusion of dawn. Angered by his own failure Sangkuriang kicked the boat so hard that it turned upside down and since then it is like that.
2. Kawah Putih, meaning the white crater, is situated on the top of Mt. Patuha. Though it is called the white crater, the colour of the crater keeps on changing from light green to white and even yellow. The place looks really nice in mist.
3. Pasar Baru Trade Center is one of the iconic market places Bandung. With seven floors and two basements to shop, this place has an extensive range of things to choose from, and it is heaven for those looking for a magnificent shopping experience.

4. Ciater Hot Spring is a beautiful small park with a hot water pool where one can relax and swim. The pool gets warm water from hot water streams which are full of minerals. It is said that taking a bath in this pool heals many skin problems and rheumatism. The park also has tennis courts, restaurants and camping area.
5. Villa Isola: One of the popular art-deco buildings of Bandung, Villa Isola was built in 1933 by Dutch architect Charles Prosper Wolff Schoemaker for an Italian millionaire D.W. Berretty. It was later converted into a hotel and presently it is Indonesia University of Education's headmastership building.
6. Gedung Sate is a wonderful example of western architecture merging with native architecture. The building is nick-named as Kebab building with reference to the building's flag pole. The Gedung Building is one of the biggest buildings of Bandung and was built by a Dutch architect J.Gerber in year 1922. Presently it serves as the Governor's building.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3445/5761571364_9c581648cc.jpg
7. Paris Van Java Mall: This shopper's paradise is centrally located and is equipped with all the modern amenities. This is a perfect mall where one can find anything from cloths to accessories, from food corners to movie theatres.
8. Museum of The Asian-African Conference is also called the Merdeka Building and is another example of art-deco building. The building was originally built as a dance and entertainment venue for social gatherings and in 1955 it hosted the first Asian- African conference. After 25 years of the conference in March 1980, this building was inaugurated as the museum of the Asian- African Conference.
9. Kampung Gajah in English means 'elephant village', though ironically one cannot find an elephant anywhere near. This is a nice entertainment park with lots of fun activities to do and wonderful restaurants to satisfy the taste buds.
10. Tiga Warna: One of the small but marvelous examples of art-deco building, Tiga Warna was built in 1938. With enough space and stylish curves this place is a must v for all the art and architecture lovers.
With so many places to visit, Bandung is a perfect holiday destination, and tourists can stay at any of the hotels in Bandung to enjoy a memorable holiday.

Banda Islands lie in the middle of nowhere in the wide open and deep Banda sea. Banda Islands are a group of total ten volcanic islands and part of Maluku Province. Banda Islands are also known as Spice Island, due to their production of world's only source of spices nutmeg and mace in the middle of 19th century ago. But

nowadays has lost their Name as spice Island. The Banda Islands offer stunning tropical scenery and some of the globe's most pristine, biologically diverse coral reefs. This mass of Banda Islands rise through lapping shores of Sulawesi Island to the west, Alor Island to the South and Papua Island to the east.http://www.lintasberita.com/mediabig/4eef10e87a7ff1c9074ce1688b18d3cc.jpg
The seas around Banda Island are site of the famous Maluku sea gardens with their bright corals and colourful fish darting through the crystal clear waters. It is considered to be one of the finest diving paradise in the world. Big pelagic fish and tiny mandarin fish are abundant in Banda waters, due to the nutrient rich waters http://i553.photobucket.com/albums/jj376/blisterexist77/n1206091113_30027944_9978.jpg
seems to effect the size of creatures dwelling among the coral. Highlight among reef walls are the presence of large marine Life, like reef fish, sharks, turtles, ray, lobsters. Interesting diving sites around Banda Islands are Sonegat, Lontor Island, Batu Belanda, Hatta Island, Keraka/crabs Island, Sjahrir Island, Gunung api and Ai Island. Ai Island is the best diving site. Both north west and south west of Ai Island are ringed with flawless coral walls. Banda Islands can be reached by plane or by boat.

I want to tell my experience about my trip to East Java especially to Mount Bromo when I was still at the secondary school, 12 years ago. I went with my parents, uncle, my friend and a driver. Our family started the tour from Bogor to Tegal, Central Java. We stayed one night in the hotel.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqNMUyXGl7SVfnKiOb7txXTw1Zle3XO1RFAoym2mVwpCWEk30YIq8f4JMmREjEfQ6t0Nin5XPzH_Y8Iyw2RMDl9hx9bR5FVL2jkwEme0VfVFusI-jwTwcAwu27GjXIz60PApj__nUFaRwS/s1600/148551_148012325246813_148003701914342_233477_4143324_n.jpg
The next day, we started our trip from Tegal to Surabaya, East Java. We stayed the night in Garden Hotel at Jl. Pemuda Surabaya. The next day we concluded the trip. We chose the route from Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, and stopped in Gending, a small town, about 12 km at the east of Probolinggo to meet an old friend.
In the afternoon we went to Mount Bromo through Probolinggo. When we arrived in Probolinggo, our car turned to the south. During our trip, we crossed jati forests and fresh air. At last we came at the hotel. At this moment we couldn't see the beautiful scenery from the hotel because of the darkness. The weather became cold and we had to wear thick clothes. We had dinner in a small restaurant near the hotel. After dinner, we slept.
http://photos.friendster.com/photos/74/38/65368347/1_474521694m.jpg
When I was still asleep, at two o'clock in the morning my parents wake up me. I didn't know what happened. There was an earthquake. Something funny happened, my friend directly brushed his teeth when he was awakened. He thought that we wanted to start to see the scenery. In fact it was only an earthquake. After that we slept again.
At 4 o'clock in the morning, the hotel attendant wake us up to be prepared to go to Pananjakan by jeep, a strategic place to watch the beautiful scenery of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok and Mount Semeru.
Time passed by. It was a pity that we couldn't see the rising sun because of the cloudy sky. We were still lucky because of the good weather we could see the beautiful scenery. The three mountains are located in a National Park. Mount Semeru is the highest mountain in Java island. My father took photos of the beautiful scenery at the National Park
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi7DiW5kQbxDopPkINo0aYGBrgjbwq2e6UzpbPX5QihLYEyQYYDJRkDVSInr_l-KP9p3PVzAG0ez44tAqMdjKvlePWPRLunpQHzMK4qMc8U6iWrT4oWtZke_ExBUi94sGRT9oT3xF4qVc/s1600/163823_176151649092436_100000928060608_395765_4681224_n.jpg
When it was clear, we went back to the hotel. From the hotel, we went by horse through the sea sand which is going towards the crater. We climb by stairs towards the top. At the top we could see the Mount Bromo's crater clearly which is still smokey.
After that we came back to the hotel and our trip to the mountain is finished. After that we went to Malang, a cold town at the south of Surabaya. After we visited a recreation park near Malang, we rested in the hotel. The next day we went back to Bogor and our trip to East Java was ended.

holiday enclave

09.49 / Comments (0) / by forum where the get together

Being one of the world's most sought after tropical holiday destinations, Bali welcomes millions of foreign tourists every year. To accommodate them and to attract even more, developments of holiday facilities are continuously taking place at an amazing pace, from hotels to restaurants, from roads to marina.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-8nHbAr5pmLs7TyfV8PgqZZZ1qnVaetjoMtMiMDDkTJ3IlQ6BPiuVt8w9CZQnxhSFPq2ktbbkEy55pjleXghaoTFXfZdp3-B9gOKdp9HFZmnJuoS9Rbxe044BFCaq-YoOcihq9hQu8jE/s1600/manado.jpg
Tourism concentration spots have been continuously extended. Kuta as one of the oldest holiday enclave has been extended to both directions, up north to Legian, Seminyak, Canggu, even Tanah Lot, and down to the south including Jimbaran, Bukit, Dreamland, and Uluwatu. Initially dedicated for premium hotel developments, Nusa Dua has been unofficially extended as well.
These days tourism in the greater south of Bali is no longer concentrated in certain spots, it is now spanning along the south-west coastline from Tanah Lot to Nusa Dua. Along with Kuta, the island has Sanur on the other side of the greater south. Whilst it started its popularity at roughly the same era, Sanur grows in a completely different style, peaceful and exclusive. But just like Kuta, it has also extending continuously.
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5617/b865db65b9c6d2e128b32cd.jpg
To the south, development of a world-class marina is on going. As the government is planning to build a bridge connecting Serangan Island on Sanur's southern end to Tanjung Benoa, and Nusa Dua will be virtually borderless. Though in a rather slower pace, to the north developments are continuously extending to Padang Galak, Saba, Ketewel, Padang Bai, and Candidasa. A construction of a world-class tourist harbor dedicated for cruise ships has been started at Tanah Ampo, somewhere close to Candidasa.http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTQ5Wp9N1U27MZTNLaZEFbPVOx1Jl38JwPcet_INGgXRV0hEcJZDw&t=1
In the near future we will be seeing south-west pattern replicated on the south-east coast, between Nusa Dua and Candidasa. When it comes, the approximately 50-miles span of coastline on the southern part of Bali, from Tanah Lot to Candidasa will become one large holiday enclave, possibly the largest on earth.http://i48.servimg.com/u/f48/12/28/26/01/logo_f11.jpg

My friend

09.32 / Comments (0) / by forum where the get together

I couldn't believe it. My friend had been working methodically at an interesting and rewarding job in HR for the past 15 years. He had been married to his lovely wife for the last five, and they seemed to be right on track for taking advantage of the housing crisis and settling into a larger house. Why on earth were they making the seemingly insane decision to move to a tropical third world country?
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRbE8nkHJKz7fy55nZ8lx7fr7toEPF33u-K0DCLl62XtVXzqUuCevYqNghYSdSGgrW0i8BUyk3scT0tSWTzIjz_5cI3UxCwQ7dxM9J4LSryKnkwMiZv36cdeH5nXe-wD5QizG2ENm3qGU/s320/71542_111988655531985_100001625538477_82659_8095746_n.jpg
"It's not tropical", he said. "Lake Toba is at a high enough elevation that the climate is quite temperate. There are pine forests and you actually might need a cotton sweater on some winter evenings. It's perfect."
"Well, what about Lake George or Lake Tahoe or Lake Geneva for that matter?" I inquired.
"Those places are great, but I don't have the finances to afford property there, much less the cost of living. My wife and I can live directly on the water in a fantastic modern house here without worrying about prices or crime."
I was intrigued. My friend had always been astute and conscientious, and I respected the decisions he made. A couple months ago I flew on down to Lake Toba to meet him and see the place for myself. I was astounded to put it mildly.
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5059/5538792147_79aae2da67.jpg
Getting there proved to be a lot simpler than I had anticipated. I arrived in the magnificently modern airport in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I decided to stay for a few days to see what this futuristic had to offer. The secret to getting downtown, he told me, was to take the VIP train service. A valet will carry your luggage from baggage claim to the 28-minute train and from the train to a waiting Mercedes which takes you to your hotel.
After getting my SE Asian Bladerunner experience, I got on a one- hour flight to Medan, Indonesia. Medan has the feeling of being run-down. Amidst the decaying Dutch colonial buildings are modern shopping plazas. The airport is right in the center of town, so the cost of the taxi was a set price with no tip expected. I checked into the Novotel and ordered a beer and a club sandwich from room service. The sandwich was bland and mediocre, but the Bintang was pure refreshing nectar. One of the positive things about being a Dutch colony for 350 years is having a fantastic local beer.
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5187/5660836010_175c6b79af.jpg
The next morning I arranged at the hotel for an SUV with a driver to drive me down to Lake Toba. It's possible to arrange to share a van or car, but I was anxious to get down there and see what my friend had been raving about. The uniformed driver made it clear that my safety and comfort were his top priorities. I buckled up and off we went through the streets of Medan and onto the long road through farms and towns.
As we began approaching our destination, I could sense the difference. Suddenly, we were inundated with dark green hues from massive tree trunks and tall pine trees. The air was clean and crisp in my nostrils. I shut off the A/C because I was more comfortable without it. There were churches everywhere because, as my driver explained, the area all around Lake Toba is Christian. As we reached the crest of a hill, I could see clear across what I presumed was Lake Toba. It really was magnificent. Pure untouched and unblemished nature welcomed me. We rolled into Perapat, a town on the shore of the lake, and I boarded a ferry to the island of Samosir.
Once on board, I was greeted by some local guys who were keen to get me to stay at their particular hotel. I was happily surprised by their high level of English. Their sales pitches were peppered with all sorts of interesting facts about the island. Apparently, it's as large as Singapore. The guys on the boat were just as content to chat. I disembarked onto the quiet vastness of Samosir Island.
It was just as my friend had described. Majestic mountains capped by coffee plantations, a hot springs as good as any in the world to use for as long as you like, candle-lit dinners on hilltops overlooking the lake, and so much more. I was tempted to stay, but I had to get back to my real life. Or did I?
